What is The Thrive Project?
The Thrive Project is a structured exercise programme for anyone having or recovering from Parkinsons and is delivered by Level 4 Personal Trainer, Steve Winnan.
Rehabilitation Sessions
The Thrive Project for Parkinson’s is a new community-focused exercise initiative at iFitness Cornwall designed to support people living with Parkinson’s through safe, structured and uplifting physical activity. Led by experienced practitioners, the programme focuses on improving strength, balance, mobility and confidence in a supportive environment where every participant is encouraged to progress at their own pace. The Thrive Project aims not only to enhance physical wellbeing, but also to reduce isolation, build community connections and empower individuals to live more actively with Parkinson’s.

Benefits of the Programme
Exercise is one of the most effective ways to manage Parkinson’s disease and maintain quality of life. When done correctly, regular physical activity can help improve movement, balance, strength, and confidence.
Targeted exercise supports brain health by encouraging more efficient movement patterns and helping manage motor symptoms such as stiffness, slowness, and reduced coordination. Strength and mobility training can make everyday tasks — standing up, walking, reaching, and turning — feel easier and more controlled.
Balance and gait-focused exercises help reduce the risk of falls and improve posture and walking confidence. Cardiovascular exercise supports heart and lung health, increases energy levels, and helps manage fatigue.
Exercise also plays a vital role in mental wellbeing. Regular movement can improve mood, reduce anxiety, support better sleep, and promote a greater sense of independence.
At The Thrive Project, exercise is personalised, progressive, and Parkinson’s-informed — designed to help you move with confidence, maintain independence, and continue doing the things that matter most.
